This Privacy Policy explains how DriveWise Zim (“the App”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use our learner driver study application. By creating an account or using the App, you agree to this policy.
Who we are
Earlnett Investments (DriveWise Zim) operates DriveWise Zim, an independent educational app to help learners prepare for Zimbabwe provisional / VID theory study. We are not affiliated with VID, TSCZ, or any government examiner.
Information we collect
Account data: email address and authentication credentials managed by our auth provider (Supabase). Profile data you choose to provide: display name and optional profile photo. Learning data: study progress, bookmarks, mock test attempts and answers, streaks, and related analytics needed to run the App. Payment data: subscription plan, status, amounts, and Paynow payment references (card/EcoCash details are handled by Paynow — we do not store full card numbers). Device and technical data: push notification tokens (if you allow notifications), app version, and local offline caches on your device.
How we use information
We use your information to create and secure your account, deliver study content and mock tests, sync progress across sessions, process premium subscriptions via Paynow, send optional study reminders if you grant notification permission, improve reliability and content quality, and comply with law. We do not sell your personal information.
Photos and media
If you set a profile photo, the App requests access to your photo library. Photos are uploaded to our storage to display your avatar. You can skip this feature; it is optional.
Notifications
With your permission, we may register a push token to send study reminders or service messages. You can deny or later disable notifications in system settings; core study features still work.
Payments
Premium purchases are processed by Paynow. When you subscribe, we create a payment reference and receive payment status from Paynow to activate or renew premium. Paynow’s own privacy terms apply to data you enter on their checkout pages.
Third-party services
We use service providers that process data on our behalf, including Supabase (database, authentication, file storage, and serverless functions), Paynow (payments), and Expo / push delivery infrastructure for notifications. These providers process data under their terms and only as needed to run the App.
Data stored on your device
The App may cache questions, theory content, images, bookmarks, and session tokens on your device (including secure storage) so you can study offline. Clearing app data or uninstalling removes local caches.
Retention
We keep account and learning records while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward for backups, fraud prevention, and legal compliance. You may request deletion of your account data by contacting us (see Contact).
Security
We use industry-standard measures such as encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls, and secure session storage. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Children
The App is intended for learner drivers and general educational use. If you believe we have collected data from a child without appropriate consent, contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
Your choices
You may update profile information in the App, refuse photo or notification permissions, cancel premium via the payment provider’s processes where applicable, and request access to or deletion of your personal data by emailing us.
International processing
Our infrastructure providers may process data in data centres outside Zimbabwe. By using the App you understand that your information may be transferred to and stored in those locations with appropriate safeguards offered by our providers.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version at this URL and, where appropriate, notify you in the App. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
